Scholarship Program

An annual educational program for Osteopathic Obstetric and Gynecology Residents

Funded by a restricted educational grant from Wyeth Pharmaceuticals

Through an educational grant the MEFACOOG Resident Reporter Scholarship Program provides a group of residents the opportunity to attend a scientific meeting that otherwise they may be unable to attend. The purpose of the program is to expose the residents to new scientific knowledge and technology in obstetrics and gynecology. The resident, in turn, provides a report to their residency program and colleagues on the information presented at the conference. This exciting educational initiative of the MEFACOOG, has as it’s core objective to foster continuing improvements in women’s healthcare.

Many thanks to Wyeth for the wealth of opportunity that this grant provides the resident, residency programs and the patients we all serve.

Goals of the program are:

    1. To introduce Residents to the ACOOG educational network via the ACOOG Annual Conference.
    2. To facilitate the demonstration by Residents of developing professionalism through their participation in a national medical meeting.
    3. To impart clinical knowledge about various topics in obstetrics and gynecology.
    4. To encourage shared learning by requiring the resident attendees to report their experiences to their peers at the direction of their OB/GYN department chair at their OB/GYN residency training program. To encourage residents to develop their writing skills by preparing a written summary suitable for publication of an assigned lecture topic during the Annual Conference.
    5. To attend all scientific, poster and exhibitor presentations.
    6. To attend an orientation session at the beginning of the day with the ACOOG Designee. To attend the Awards Ceremony, Presentation of New Fellows and Presidential Reception & Banquet.
    7. To receive course syllabus and other usual educational material.

The Resident attendee’s responsibility is to individually produce an on site written report summarizing the assigned topic from the conference. If then selected by the editor, the Resident will participate with the CME presentation and education in the production of a written report suitable for publication in the on line edition of the MEFACOOG/WYETH Pharmaceuticals Resident Reporter Online Journal.

      Objective:
